IN REMEMBRANCE OF FORTUNATA DELUCA

Photobucket
IN MEMORY OF MY MOTHER WHO PASSED AWAY ON THIS DAY A FEW YEARS BACK.

Your gentle face and patient smile

With sadness we recall.

You had a kindly word for each

And died beloved by all.

The voice is mute and stilled the heart,

That loved us well and true,

Ah, bitter was the trial to part,

From one so good as you.

You are not forgotten loved one,

Nor will you ever be,

As long as life and memory last,

We will remember thee.

We miss you now, our hearts are sore,

As time goes by we miss you more,

Your loving smile, your gentle face,

No one can fill your vacant place.

  1. Maria, That's a wonderful poem! Are you the author? It's a sweet tribute to your loved one.

  2. Maria, after you mentioned your mother in my blog, it occurred to me you might have a tribute to her her. It's lovely, as is the crocus.

Life is so fragile, but when it blooms, it can be splendid.

  3. DOROTHY,
I finally figured out how to post comments on my own blog!
As I mentioned in an email, the poem is one that my family chose from a list provided by our church and the funeral home. The poem describes mom perfectly.
Mom loved the color purple and all shades of purple, from lavender to royal purple, for this reason I dedicate the crocus to her.

    SHORE,
Thank you for your comments. Life for mom was extremely fragile but SHE bloomed with kindness and love for everyone, from family, to friends and acquaintances, to those who made life 'fragile'.
Thank you for your comments. The last sentence is a saver.
